Weekly Shonen Jump Print Circulation Falls Below 1 Million Copies

In an unprecedented shift for the publishing industry, Weekly Shonen Jump’s average print circulation has officially dropped below 1 million copies for the first time in history, falling to approximately 985,000 copies per issue in 2026.

This historic milestone marks the lowest recorded print figure for the legendary manga magazine, which launched iconic global franchises such as Dragon Ball, One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach.

The sharp decline becomes even more striking when contrasted with the magazines golden era during the mid 1990s, when print sales routinely peaked at an astounding 6.5 million copies per week to dominate Japanese publishing.

Industry analysts emphasize that this downturn does not reflect a waning interest in manga itself, but rather a massive ongoing transition toward digital reading platforms like Shonen Jump+ and international digital subscription apps.

While physical magazine sales continue to contract in the modern era, the Shonen Jump brand maintains an immense global influence, driving massive revenue through anime adaptations, digital releases, and merchandise worldwide.
